What is FTP?
FTP allows you see files on your computer and files on a server at the same time. From there you can drag and drop them from one to the other. It is very similar to how you move files on your computer from one folder to another.
How do I use FTP?
To get started you’ll need an FTP client, it sounds confusing but this is just a program or application on your computer that will allow you to connect a FTP server. There are a lot of free FTP clients available, popular choices include Filezilla and Cyberduck, these work for both Windows and Mac.
Once you've downloaded the FTP client, open it up and you'll add in your connection settings:
- Server/hostname: ftp.thinkspacehq.com
- Username and Password you've been provided
- Port number: 21
Once you've entered the login details and are connected, you’ll see a window with all the files and folders on your server listed, similar to how you would see your files listed on your computer. If this is your first time connecting you make not see any files or folders, don't worry this is just like if you created a new folder on your computer. Add any folders and files you wish and you're off and running!
What are my FTP credentials or login information?
You will receive these from Thinkspace, if you don't remember your username or password or haven't already gotten them, please contact us to get that information.
